On the night of March 26, a massive brawl involving hundreds of individuals broke out at a "Velesstroy" construction site in Ust-Luga (Kingisepp District, Leningrad Region). Preliminary reports indicate the conflict took place at a facility managed by "Ruskhimallians," a subsidiary of Gazprom. Footage circulating on social media captures a large-scale confrontation: men in dark clothing throwing stones at one another, and an SUV with orange flashing lights plowing into the crowd at high speed, hitting people "like bowling pins," according to witnesses.
The Spark: Security vs. Workers
A primary theory behind the incident is an ethnic dispute between security personnel and laborers. Security services at the site are reportedly staffed by individuals from the North Caucasus, while the majority of the workforce consists of citizens of Kazakhstan. Witnesses claim the escalation began after a security guard kicked a worker near the temporary housing trailers, citing disrespectful treatment of the migrant laborers. The domestic dispute quickly spiraled into a riot, requiring OMON National Guard units to restore order.
Consequences and Mobilization Rumors
The situation took an unexpected turn in online discussions and industry-specific chat groups. According to unverified information from commentators familiar with life at this rotation camp, there were attempts to send workers detained during the unrest to the zone of the Special Military Operation (SMO). It is reported that the most active participants in the conflict were allegedly targeted for military service as a form of punishment or an alternative to criminal charges.
Furthermore, reports are surfacing on social media regarding the escape of one of the detainees. Currently, the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region is clarifying the details of the incident. Velesstroy’s press office has not responded to media inquiries, leaving the situation without official comment.
